1.Parliament building – One of the largest buildings in the world

Open: Mon , Tue , Wed , Thu , Fri , Sat , Sun (everyday)

It is open every day, but visitors must bring valid ID and book at least 24 hours in advance—though a few same-day spots may be available early in the morning. The schedule changes from month to month, and since it is a government building, it may close during major events or when Parliament is on break.

2.”Dimitrie Gusti” Village Museum – Traditional Houses from Romania

Open: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun (everyday)

Be sure to check their opening hours, as they vary by season. Additionally, some buildings and exhibits may not be open at all times.

3. Ceausescu Mansion—The Dictators Home

Open: Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun (Tuesday to Sunday)

You need to book at least one day in advance, and visits are only available through a guided tour in English or Romanian. You’ll get to explore the luxurious lifestyle of the communist elite—because, as we know, some people were more equal than others!

4. Museum of Communism in Bucharest

If you’re looking to get a sense of what life under communism felt like, this is a great place to start. You’ll get a glimpse into the stories of that era, along with period furniture that helps set the mood.

5. The Museum of Football

Romanians love football and have an exciting history in football. Our golden age has passed, but it’s nice to reflect on previous achievements.

6. Cotroceni National Museum – President’s residence, lush grounds and medieval monastery

One of the best kept palaces in Romania, I find this place fascinating, and I hope that you get to experience the gardens, which were recently opened to the public. Tips: You need your ID on you and you need to book in advance to get in.

7. Museum of Communism in Bucharest (10:00 – 19:00)

If you want to know how communism was back in the day, this is a great opportunity for you.

8. National Bank of Romania Museum – Currency and beautiful interior design (10:00–16:00)

Have you ever entered a National Bank? Have you watched Money Heist, Casa del Papel? You can imagine that in this museum/institution. Also, you can hear about some money or gold that has been stolen. You must book 2 days in advance, and you need your ID on you (passport or your national ID).

9. Museum of Art Collections – Art Museum

If you love art, I have some good news for you… this is the place to be!

10. Holocaust Museum—Museums bringing to light the Romanian Holocaust

Romania used to have a large Jewish minority that was deeply affected by the pogroms and the Holocaust. Also, communism had a significant impact on the community. To find out more, you will need to book a tour.

11. Jewish Museum of Bucharest

A place where you can find out about the contribution that the Jewish community had in Romania. Also, it is one of Dracula’s favorite buildings in the city.

12. Little Paris Museum – Late 19th century Bucharest vibes (11:00-19:00)

French culture is really important in Romania; the main reason is the transformation that Romania went through in the late 1800s to switch from Eastern influence to Western European.

13. “Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History – The type of museum that kids usually like

The National History Museum is a perfect place to go as a family and learn about the world we live in and how the planet came to be. We recommend visiting during the week, as during the weekend this museum is always full.

14.Museum of Romanian Records

If you want to see some Guinness World Record-level large-scale collections, well, this is the place to be. From large-scale corkscrew collections to the largest stamp collection in Romania, this place has some unique objects that will impress in diversity.

15. “Dimitrie Brandza” Botanical Gardens

It’s the perfect place to explore plants, and the fun fact is that the greenhouse scene from Wednesday was filmed here. Schedule changes according to the season and possible events. Also, you need to know that specific indoor gardens are only open at certain hours.

16. Museum of Senses – A place of Illusions (10:00-22:00)

If you would like to enjoy some illusions and, of course, some cool photos to share with your friends, the Museum of Senses will offer you a very interesting experience.
