Skiing in Romania – Sinaia Ski Resort – Prahova County

Sinaia, Romania’s second-best ski resort, offers easy access from Bucharest and minimal crowding mid-week. It features slopes for all skill levels and modern facilities. However, weather unpredictability can affect skiing plans, and weekends attract crowds. Advance train reservations are recommended to avoid traffic and ensure a smooth trip.

Advantages:

  • 2nd best ski resort in Romania, according to Link (not as good as in the Alps but enough for a weekend)
  • Easy access from Bucharest.
  • You can avoid the weekend traffic jams by taking the train.
  • It is not a busy ski slope.

Disadvantages:

  • The weather changes quite often and high winds might cancel the day you want to go skiing
  • It gets crowded during the weekends.
  • Difficult to get there by car during the weekends
  • Train reservations should be done a couple days in advance (avoid school breaks, usually start of January to mid-February)

Sinaia is also renowned for its ski resorts, which offer a wide range of options for winter sports enthusiasts, including slopes for beginners, intermediate, and advanced skiers. All the slopes are equipped with modern cable transport facilities and provide excellent skiing conditions. Visitors can also enjoy equipment rental services, ski schools, and slopeside bars. From the ski slopes, you can take in the stunning view of the Caraiman Peak, adding a spectacular backdrop to your skiing experience.

    That looks fabulous. I was at a ski resort I believe is close by, Poiana Brasov, but it was summer so no skiing. But we took the gondola.

      Sinaia is nice for hiking in the Summer, but in terms of summer views there is Busteni which tops it off with amazing scenery. You get to see babele and sthe sfinx. Rock formations carved by the wind. Should write an article about it.
