It’s free to enter, and they create some of the coolest mini-art exhibitions. They change their exhibits quite often, so for me it is always a treat to try something new.

Parks

Bucharest has quite a few parks, oldest one is the Cismigiu Park for a romantic walk and for views we made an entire list:

Unirii Square Fountains (Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening)

The municipality invested a lot of money for these amazing fountains to light up the evening. There is usually music involved and light shows with the water works.

2024 schedule: August starts at 21:00 and September 20:00.

Update:fountains usually work only on the weekend and during the summer, late spring and early autumn. Hours depend on the month.

Churches

Romania is mostly Romanian Orthodox (82% of the population) and another large percentage is Catholic. Most churches allow tourists to visit for free. Exceptions are monasteries that usually require an entrance fee, as a lot of monasteries are historical monuments.

Technically speaking, it is not in the city of Bucharest, but you can get there with public transport. The park is a really nice place to explore, perfect family-friendly free activity in Bucharest and if you are lucky not to be here during the weekend, you get to explore the park without too many people.
