Dobrogea is a historical region of Romania that has a very particular beauty. Imagine that you get to experience: the sea, a giant delta, meandering hills, a true paradise for those who love to eat fish, and also known as a place to party.
Festivals
There is not much to say, but when the summer temperatures hit the beach the seaside becomes a massive place for partying and music.

Constanta – The city of the Sea
It is a city that has existed since 600 BC, the place where the poet Ovid was exiled and a region that has seen many populations come and go, including Tatars, Russians, Armenians, Ottomans, Jews, Bulgarians and even ancient Greeks. It is a city that becomes active in the summer and that can be easily reached by train from Bucharest. If you love the sea side, food, partying, wine, and history, this is the place to go.
Food – A hub for regional cooking
There are plenty of fishermen villages in the Dobrogea Area. You have fish coming from the Black Sea and fish from the Danube Delta. You have plenty of fish recipes from Lipoveni (a population originally from Russia), Tatar, or Turkish recipes like suburek. Or a Balkan recipe that we call zacusca with fish that is called ajvar in other countries, but of course the twist here is that it is made with fish. My recommendation is to explore the areas around Constanta, find a nice fish restaurant, and dig in on what local products they have to offer.
Pro tip: Look up Punct Gastronomic and it is generally a local farm with local products that serves a fresh new meal every day. You need to call in advance, as they only cook on that particular day.

Enisala Fortress
A beautiful medieval fortress that overlooks the surrounding areas. You will get to see the the giant salt water lake Razim, a Greek burial site nearby and pro tip is to go and see the sunset as you get an amazing view from there.
Dobrogea Gorges
It is a bit touristy because Romanians love visiting this place. But don’t get me wrong, it looks incredible, and I do recommend that if you rent a car and want to have a nice picnic, it can be a very interesting place to visit. If you love geology, these are some of the oldest land formations on the Romanian territory.
