What is Zarnesti Sanctuary? A place for rescued bears.

Established in 2005 and opened to the public in 2008, Sanctuary Libearty in Zărnești, Romania, spans 69 hectares and houses over 100 rescued brown bears, the largest reserve of its kind worldwide.

The bears had a rough life, and this is their final moment of semi-captivity as they can no longer live in the wild. People can visit in limited numbers and observe, from a distance, the bears feeding once a day.

Fun fact: you are surrounded by fences, while the bears can roam in a large forested area.

Where is it located? Zarnesti close to Brasov

The easiest way to get there: Rent a car or Bolt/Uber/Taxi (20 euros)

How can I visit?

All the information is on their website: https://millionsoffriends.org/en/buy-tickets/

On their website, you can also access other cool stuff about bears. You can also sleep there, as they have facilities to accommodate you.
