You just look at the bottle and understand the source of so many humorous moments, why put a beautiful lady dressed up in a fake scrub on a bottle of sanitary alcohol?!? It beats me, but I remember seeing this bottle at a young age.
What is Mona?
Mona is sanitary alcohol, basically a bottle of ethylic alcohol/normal alcohol (over 70%) used to disinfect wounds. It is cheaper than the real stuff and more potent and as you can imagine, there are many urban legends of people drinking this in Romania. It is said that people get bread and pour it through the bread to obtain alcohol without the sanitary smell and color that is meant to stop people from consuming it.
This commercial specifies that this is for external use, also the voice of the guy is that of a very drunk Romanian.
TNR (the Romanian Onion) wrote a satirical article about how people in a village in Romania turned blue, the news is fake of course, but the fun is not: https://www.timesnewroman.ro/it-stiinta/adevaratii-strumfi-intr-un-sat-din-moldova-toti-sunt-albastri-de-la-spirt/

Or this other masterpiece from Vaslui, the county that has the worst reputation in the country: https://pozehaioase2014.blogspot.com/2017/01/anul-nou-in-judetul-vaslui.html
French say that Champagne needs to be from the region of Champagne, so if I call this champagne, they will have a triple heart attack(the bottle is also made out of plastic)! You are not Romanian, but even the writing has spelling errors…

And one of our favorite photos, you can get the Mona…Lisa at Shoteria or shots in Old Town:
