Romania has been producing wine for more than 2000 years. We have multiple wine regions and multiple wine producers, and we export grapes and a lot of vineyards that offer wine tasting experiences. The saddest thing is that even though Romania produces really good wine, it is not a big wine exporter… So Dracula has compiled the best wine places in Bucharest. I chose these places based on personality and that wine ‘finesse’.

Dracula’s favorite wine:

Abel’s Wine Bar

It is on our list because it hits all the nice wine-tasting notes: diversity of good Romanian wines, located in the center of town, polite staff, and wonderful atmosphere. This place doesn’t feel like Old Town, being a bit more relaxed and having a more cozy, quaint, and vibey atmosphere.

Mosto – Natural Wine Bar & Bistró

Some wines contain additives because it is easier to preserve these magical elixirs, but if you enjoy wine preserved in more natural ways, Mosto is the place to be. Dracula was recommended to go here by multiple wine lovers, and this place does not disappoint!

The Great Hill

Cotroceni neighborhood is just a nice place to go for a walk and the quality of the place is just outstanding. It is not located in Old Town, so you avoid the hustle and bustle. Going to the Great Hill is where I go if I want something fancy or special.

Paine si Vin

‘Bread and Wine’ is the literal translation. It is exactly that, delving into pizza-like doughs in the oven and a wine selection. Though technically not a wine bar, it does have a good selection of wines and a nice selection of breads and pizzas for a snack.

It is quite difficult to find a table here and they do not accept reservations, but you know what? Sometimes we have to make sacrifices for the things we love!

1000 de Chipuri

It is more of a small shop than a wine bar. I like going here because the prices are decent, and if I want to buy some wine, I can try it and then buy the bottle to take it home. Small, quiet, no expectations it is just a place where the 1000 de Chipuri winery sells their products.
