Do you want to know what Romanians love to eat? Well, here is a list and some videos to show you how to make these wonderful types of food!

Fish Roe Salad – Fish Roe Spread

It is a very popular dish in Romania that is typically found in supermarkets and is typically eaten as an appetizer. It is very similar to taramasalata. Although the name and the recipe most likely originate in Greece, the spread is a staple of Romanian cuisine and will delight any Romanian.

I am from the North, a region close to Ukraine, and this soup is one of my favorite soups during the Summer. In Romania, we serve it hot and with sour cream. The secret ingredient is Romanian bors which is used in the region of Moldova and the Republic of Moldova to sour soups.

Tocini – Romanian Hash Browns (Vegetarian)

One thing that I would like to add to this recipe is the fact that it needs sour cream. In the north, we sometimes add sugar and turn it into a dessert. This is my childhood favorite dish and sparks up a lot of nice memories.

Balmos – Polenta with cheese (Vegetarian)

It is the type of meal that needs to be enjoyed somewhere outside of the city after a hike, preferably at a sheepfold. This meal connects Romanian culture, simple food, quality ingredients, and old traditions.

Salam de biscuiti – Biscuits and cocoa (Vegetarian)

Called a biscuit salami, it is one of the most accessible recipes during communism. You could use ingredients that could be stored for quite some time and put them together once this tasty delight is made. Normally, you would not use rum but would use rum essence, and instead of butter, margarine as they were easier to find.
