In no particular order, Dracula presents the most famous things to explore in Romania:
1. Peleș Castle (more of a palace…)
Pros:
- One of the most beautiful buildings in Romania.
- Really good and professional tour guides.
- Located in a beautiful forest.
- Easy access by train.
Cons:
- Waiting in line… I always have the image of myself of standing in line a lot to wait for the guided tour.
- It can get really crowded during the summer.
2. Bran Castle
Pros:
- You will find out the history of me, Dracula!
- Good posts for your social media account.
Cons:
- You will find out that there are not a lot of things connected to the Dracula story here…
- Too many people and it is overrated for what it can offer
- Not so easy to get to with public transportation
3. Danube Delta
Pros:
- One of the most isolated places you can find in Europe perfect for some peace and quiet.
- Amazing wildlife.
- If you love eating fish this is the place for you.
Cons:
- Mosquitoes! Only Dracula should be the one sucking blood…
- It is isolated, isolated cities like Sfântul Gheorghe can be accessed by boat
- Difficult to organize a trip on your own if you don’t speak the language
4. Voroneț Monastery
Pros:
- It is considered the Sistine Chapel of Romania, having a beautiful exterior painting of judgment day.
- A very spiritual experience.
- It is an UNESCO heritage site and many UNESCO heritage are located nearby.
Cons:
- It is quite touristy and can get really crowded during summer and holiday periods.
5. Palace of the People
Pro: Big
Con: Big
Honestly, it’s just a massive building that was built by someone with a massive ego during communist times. Located in Bucharest it is really easy to get to and has a lot of interesting stories related to the building it’s construction and the effort required to build it. Also the second largest building in the world in terms of volume.
