Romanian Orthodox Easter is coming up soon, and one of the most popular souvenir you can get in Romania is beautifully decorated Easter Eggs.

Each region has it’s own models, choice of colours and even methods of applying paint.

There are plenty of places to buy these types of eggs, especially when Easter is around the corner. Make sure to double check when Orthodox Easter is coming up (in 2024 Orthodox Easter is on the 5th of May).

Bucharest

Peasent Museum – around Easter they organise workshops and exhibits where you can buy Easter Eggs, also their souvenir shop sometimes has them.

Or

my romanian store – a souvenir shop that usually has decorated eggs on hand, other souvenir shops also have them but we prefer this place as the reviews are quite good.

Bucovina

Best place: Vama Egg Museum where you can purchase handcrafted eggs all year round and reflect the cultural diversity of symbolisms from the region of Bucovina. One of the largest decorated egg museums in the world (colections from all across the world, a cool example is a python deocorated egg).

Most common place to find them is at monasteries with nuns (Voronet or Sucevita in the North of the country).

Craiova Easter Fair (19 of April – 12 of May 2024)

Season products, fairy tale decorations (easter eggs!), and musical performances await tourists and locals in the city’s Romanescu Park. For more information: Link

If you are looking to purchase one of the coolest souvenirs in Romania, this is your little helper!
