Movies are a lens that shows different angles of life, a new culture is bound to be fascinating and layered, so Dracula hopes you will give these movie experiences a try:

Tales from the Golden Age (Amintiri din epoch de aur) – 2009

Genre: Comedy, History

Nothing captures the Romanian spirit more than these five short stories based on communist-era urban legends. Even though it depicts tales from this certain area, the movie still feels fresh in many ways.

If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle (Eu când vreau sa fluier, fluier) – 2010

Genre: Drama

Internationally acclaimed, “If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle” will take you on a journey of pain, tragedy, poverty, and love.

Asphalt Tango – 1996

Genre: Comedy

It gives a humorous view of the Romanian post-communistic dream. The enthusiasm and relief of getting rid of the past regime gave Romanians hope to the point of naivety. The outside world was finally accessible, and the possibilities were endless, what could go wrong?

Stuff and Dough (Marfa si Banii) – 2001

Genre: Drama, Thriller

What is interesting about Marfa si Banii is that even though the action takes place most of the time in a car and gives you mostly a single point perspective, it has no issue taking your breath away on key scenes.

Why Me? (De ce eu?) – 2015

Genre: Drama, Thriller

A more recent movie I would recommend especially for those into crime and investigations. More of an honorable mention in my opinion if we take a look at all the good Romanian movies, but worth watching overall.
