Not going to lie, Bucharest is quite flat… So to get a decent view is quite complicated. We made a list of places that have a nice view and can be easily reached by metro or a bit of a walk from Old Town.

1. Carol Park (top of the stairs)

Pros:

  • You can walk there from Old Town and it takes around 30 minutes, or take the metro for one stop to Tineretului and walk for 10 minutes.
  • You can observe the House of Parliament and The massive cathedral.
  • You can see the guard change in front of the Monument of the Unknown Soldier (similar to the guard change at Buckingham Palace).
  • You can see the Monument of National Heroes (don’t go in as it is an army base)
  • You can go and party in Expirat club after seeing a sunset here.
  • There are plenty of restaurants/cafes nearby, Dracula recommends Erbario Coffee.

Cons:

  • It is not in Old Town

Exact coordinates of the view: Google Maps

2. Mitropoliei Hill

Pros:

  • Really close to the old town
  • You can see two monuments: Palace of the Patriarchate and Patriarchal Cathedral of Saints Constantine and Helena and the House of Parliment in the distance.
  • You can see the relics of Saint Dumitru Basarabov (story about them here).

Cons:

  • The views you get are limited
  • No toilets

Exact coordinates of the view: Google Maps

3. Tineretului Park

Pros:

  • It was a park built by the communists and there is something impressive about it. It feels like a bowl and you can walk on its rim to see everything that is inside.
  • This is one of the few angles where you can see the old crematorium, Palace of the People and the Mausoleum in the distance.
  • It is surrounded by metro stops so you can plan how to get there very easily.

Cons:

  • It is not close to Old Town.
  • Restaurants and places to eat are dispersed so you might find a lot or too few.
  • Man made hill

4. Delta Vacaresti

Pros:

  • You see the largest artificial Delta in Bucharest (it was supposed to be a water reservoir)
  • Perfect for chilling during an afternoon on the concrete side of the basin.
  • It is illegal to drink alcohol in public and we are all very responsible in this place.

Cons:

  • Sitting on concrete
  • Not very comfy, and to sit on the concrete side you need to find the stairs. (exact spot Here and just head to the left on the incline itself for the best view)
  • Avoid it during the summer as the concrete captures most of the heat

5.Morii Lake

Pros:

  • Best sunsets in Bucharest
  • A very nice place to go for a walk (it was recently renovated)
  • A good place for a picnic when you go to the island in the middle
  • Walking on the side of the water storage (the lake itself stores water) you get the surrounding views.
  • Really close to Dracula’s favorite beer place in Bucharest (look at life hack).

Cons:

  • Takes some time to get here.
  • Difficult access to bathrooms. But I have a life hack for you.

Location: Google Maps

Life hack: go for a beer at Anagram and they have restrooms there.
