Generally speaking, you shouldn’t worry about safety in Bucharest. With that being said, it depends a lot of your understanding in terms of safety and what you are really expecting from a city.

If we are comparing it with some Ukrainian city in 2023 during war time, Bucharest is obviously heaven, but if we are putting it side to side to Vienna, there might be a few things to take into consideration

Unfortunately, you will need to pay attention to your belongings if you still want to have something when you fly back.

Try to not walk on the streets flashing your Rolex, some of us enjoy it as well. But overall your pockets are as safe as in any other big city.

Areas to avoid

Ferentari and Rahova would be our top choices.
