When do they bloom?
Magnolia season in the capital typically runs from March through April, though the exact timing depends entirely on temperatures.
- Mid-March — Early season: The first mild days of spring wake up early varieties like Magnolia stellata, whose delicate white star-shaped flowers begin appearing in the city’s sunnier gardens.
- Late March to April 10 — Peak season: This is the “golden week” of Bucharest’s magnolias. The showstoppers, Magnolia × soulangeana, reach their full glory — branches heavy with large, globe-shaped blooms in shades of pink, white, and purple, before any leaves appear.
- May to June — Late season: As the pink petals fall, Magnolia grandiflora quietly takes over. Unlike its relatives, it is evergreen and produces enormous white flowers with a strong lemony fragrance that carry the season into early summer.

Yes but there are not a lot of trees in Old Town itself.
Where should I go and see magnolia trees?
Pro tip: around Gradina Icoanei Park, not a lot of tourists visit that area, and it is one of the more interesting parts of town in terms of architecture. It is a 30-minute walk from Old Town, and on a beautiful spring day, it will delight your entire day.
