Formed in 1990, Opeth stand as one of the benchmark bands of the Scandinavian — and global — metal scene. Over the course of their career, they’ve released 14 studio albums, moving fluidly from the raw intensity of their early death metal roots to the refined, atmospheric progressions of their more recent works.
Renowned for their genre-defying artistry, Opeth have headlined some of the world’s biggest festivals, including Wacken, Hellfest, and Download. Mikael Åkerfeldt, the band’s creative force, has often cited influences ranging from King Crimson, Genesis, and Deep Purple to Morbid Angel and Voivod — all of which have shaped the Swedes’ distinctive sound.
