First of all, there is a Dracula film that will be showcased at this festival, so it is a must that I post on the topic. It’s not Draculasguidetoromania if you don’t share the Dracula knowledge. Sorry to the Swiss for my mistake.

🧛‍♂️ “Dracula” – Directed by Radu Jude

Selected for the main competition, Concorso Internazionale, “Dracula” is a daring, meta-cinematic take on the legendary vampire myth. A Romanian-Austrian-Luxembourg co-production, the film features a star-studded cast and blends multiple genres — commercial cinema, vampire lore, political satire, eroticism, and literary essay — in what Jude calls a “Dracula for everyone.” It’s a bold cinematic experiment that reflects on national myths and the history of film itself.

💀 “Don’t Let Me Die” (“Nu mă lăsa să mor”) – Directed by Andrei Epure

Selected in the Cineasti del Presente section, dedicated to emerging filmmakers, Andrei Epure’s feature debut is an emotional and absurd meditation on grief, bureaucracy, and solitude. With Cosmina Stratan in the lead role, the film is described by the director as a “visual obituary,” exploring our complex relationship with death in all its terrifying, mundane, and occasionally comedic aspects.

🌙 “Sorella di Clausura” – Directed by Ivana Mladenović

Also competing in the official selection, this international co-production (Romania, Serbia, Italy, Spain) blends tenderness, humor, and melancholy. Based on real people and events, the film is an empathetic parody of the romantic melodrama, set in the Balkans during the early 2008 economic crisis. Director Ivana Mladenović describes it as a story about the tension between dreams and reality, and how, in a collapsing world, the only way to keep dreaming is by being aware that you’re dreaming.
