When I say pies, it can range from pies with sweet cheese inside or fillings with potato, ranging from vegetarian to meat, from savory to sweet, depending a lot on the region of the country of the person organizing. Pies might look more like bread or more like a quiche, so it is your chance to explore the local culture.
