If you are wondering if tap water is safe to drink in Romania? The answer overall is yes, but generally ask as different cities have better quality of water than others.

Within Europe, the quality of water of Romania is average. Water is ok to drink overall just beware that isolated areas water quality can be problematic, and even bigger cities can have issues with the water infrastructure which might reduce the drinkability of the elixir of life.

As a Romanian, I use a water filter, but overall, it is ok to drink but just know that in some areas water can taste funny because of the minerals present or chlorine. You can get softer or harder water in different areas.

Pro tip: just get bottled water, and if you get thirsty late at night, drink tap water and you will be fine.
