Dracula generally recommends the things he likes, so it is usually a bit more complicated when he likes gluten stuff, but then… the door opened, and there are some places that prepare tasty gluten-free food dedicated to people with celiac disease.

Also, I double-checked with Happy Gluten Free Romania and Celiac la Restaurant – fara gluten to make sure the recommendations for people with celiac disease are adequate. Towards the end of the list are 2 Mexican restaurants that are gluten free but do not have the approval of the celiac community as there is a risk of cross contamination.

Pro tip: You can also download this app to help you out Google Play (Gluten Advisor) – it gives recommendations for places all across Romania + Europe.

Restaurants:

Ergo (approved by the celiac community)

Stylish, hip and know their food really well. When I hear about places for people with celiac disease, this is the place that constantly pops up.

Arepas Columbianas (approved by the celiac community)

A food truck that shares this South American dish—what more can you ask for? Buns stuffed with tasty goodness! They move around when there are street food events, so it is important to double check, but if you are visiting and there is an event, there is a high chance you will find them there and treat yourself!

Pizzeria Viitorului (approved by the celiac community)

Well, who doesn’t like pizza? If you can’t tolerate gluten, this place doesn’t either, so you are in good hands. If you are in the mood for pizza, this is the place to be!

Bakery:

L’Amande (approved by the celiac community)

Dracula met multiple people who were really excited about this place, so of course I was going to share this location.

Chedo (approved by the celiac community)

Bonus ice cream:

Gelateria La Romana – gluten free ice-cream cones (not for celiac has a risk of cross contamination)

It wasn’t approved by the celiac community as it wasn’t tested, but Gelateria La Romana does brag that it doesn’t give gluten ice cream cones: gluten free ice-cream cones

This is more of a flex, as I did research and found out my favorite ice cream store does this. You can also get the ice cream in a cup, but I must admit cones are better.

Mexican style restaurants:

Casa del Tacos (not for celiac but with risk of contaminants)

Hasn’t been tested for people with celiac disease, but the ingredients are not gluten based.

Dracula loves corn based foods and this is his favorite place to eat tacos! Decent prices for each taco, and the best part is the Margarita, which is salty, sweet, and really well balanced. I just love this place because it is small, the people working there know me, and it just has really nice memories.

M.A.T (not for celiac with risk of contaminants)

Hasn’t been tested for people with celiac disease, but the ingredients are not gluten based.

I have the most amazing memories of MAT’s really flavorsome tacos. I would suggest not going for delivery, as it was hit and miss in terms of balance of flavors. My pro tip is to go to their place, which is tiny, have a glass of vinho verde, 6 tacos for yourself, exchange it with a friend, and even though it is a bit expensive, be happy for that moment.
