Dracula knows Gura Humorului better than a local, this list includes hidden gems that few people know about and you can spend a couple days in Gura Humorului without leaving the city.

Hike Piatra Soimului

This is a new discovery for Dracula. If you are not used to hiking this is a medium difficulty hike as you have quite a bit of walking to do. You just need to follow the blue plus sign and you will get to the top of the ski slope. Halfway through you will see an amazing rock formation called the Hawk’s Rock (Piatra Soimului).

Along the way, you will see glimpses of the city and at the end, you will enjoy the top of the local ski slope where you have a vantage point to see everything all around you. If it is tourist season the ski lift will be working and you can enjoy drinks at the bar located at the observation deck.

Folk Traditions Museum of Bucovina

Traditions from this area are starting to die off as time passes but if you want to travel back in time and get a sense of how people lived their lives and celebrated local customs this is the museum of choice. From weddings to celebrating new years to death you have all the elements that make Bucovina special. The most fascinating aspect is the mix of pagan and Christian traditions that are similar in some sense to our neighbors, but also with their unique twists.

Drink Bere Suceava/Solca/Bermas/Calimani at one of the local pubs

Getting all 4 beers should be its own treasure hunt on its own, the Bermas one is the most difficult to find as most people think it’s just the name of the factory. The factory is 20% owned by its employees and it survived post-communism because the employees bought the factory. It produces 4 different beers Suceava/Solca/Bermas/Calimani and they are locally brewed. What better way to stay immersed in the local culture?

Night view of the city (you can enjoy the view during the day too)

Dracula has been during the day and during the night on this viewpoint and obviously, it is better at night. The atmosphere is magical and you don’t get burnt by the sun. Getting there is quite easy and you get a view of the city and the surroundings without too much effort.
